Alternative Rally Islas Canarias joins WRC calendar in 2025 for new two-year deal

The Canary Islands will host the WRC in 2025 and 2026, moving from the European Rally Championship. Rally Islas Canarias will join the WRC calendar pending approval from the World Motor Sport Council. This decision follows a similar move for Latvia and Poland. The addition of the Canary Islands ensures Spain’s presence in the WRC after Rally Catalunya’s absence. Plans to expand the championship to 14 events next year are underway, with nations like Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Paraguay, Argentina, and the USA vying for a spot on the calendar.
