Jenson Button’s Return to NASCAR and Future Racing Plans

Jenson Button qualified eighth in a race on the downtown streets of Chicago, but was classified 21st after being pushed into a spin in mixed weather conditions. Despite his frustration with not getting the result he wanted in NASCAR, he is returning to full-time competition in sportscar racing in 2024. He is making his debut in the Daytona 24 Hours with Acura before embarking on a full season with Jota in a customer Porsche 963. After a successful Super GT campaign in 2019, Button raced sporadically across British GT, Goodwood Revival, Nitro Rallycross, Extreme E, and NASCAR. Although he has raised his popularity in American motorsport paddocks, he believes he will be doing WEC for the next couple of years and doesn’t anticipate a switch from WEC to the IMSA SportsCar Championship in the future.
