Alternative MotoGP adjusts penalties for tyre pressure rule violations

MotoGP has abandoned disqualifications for riders breaking the tyre pressure rule, opting for time penalties instead. The new penalties include an extra eight seconds for violations during the Saturday sprint and 16 seconds for infractions on Sunday’s grand prix. Michelin introduced the minimum tyre pressure limit for safety reasons, with penalties first implemented at the Spanish GP last season. Riders had expressed concerns about the narrow window for tyres to work safely, prompting Michelin to lower the front compound pressure slightly.
