Action-packed Ninth and Tenth Hours at Daytona 24 Hours

Cadillac Racing’s Pipo Derani briefly held the lead at the start of Hour 9 before a pit stop to hand over the No. 31 Cadillac V-Series.R to Aitken. Jenson Button collided with another car halfway through the ninth hour, creating a spin that impacted the race. The BMW M Team RLL entries climbed to second and third as Aitken and Nasr pitted. Aitken reclaimed the lead and maintained it until the end of Hour 11, holding off challenges from the BMW cars. In the LMP2 class, Inter Europol by PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports surged to the lead late in the race after a series of pit stops and restarts. In the GTD class, Alessandro Pier Guidi kept the No. 62 Ferrari 296 GT3 for Risi Competizioni out front ahead of Alexander Sims in the No. 3 Chevrolet Corvette GT3 R.
