FIA’s Focus on Liquid Hydrogen Storage for Motorsport Development”

The FIA is prioritizing the development of hydrogen storage in liquid form for motorsport competitions over gas storage. This shift aims to optimize powertrain layouts and better suit the demanding environment of racing. Hydrogen is seen as a sustainable alternative to electric power, with plans for a H2 class at the Le Mans 24 Hours and the introduction of the Extreme H racing series using fuel cell technology. Formula 1 and the FIA are evaluating the use of hydrogen technology in motorsport through a joint Hydrogen Working Group.
