Stability and Operations: An Outlook on F1 2023

The third year of the current ground effect design rulebook is underway in the world of Formula 1, with teams converging around the Red Bull-style downwash sidepod car architecture. With stable rules in place, it’s unlikely that there will be major changes to the form guide this year, as teams focus on refining their trackside operations to regain performance. The tight gaps in qualifying sessions mean that improved strategy and pitstop times could prove critical in races, and the field is expected to continue moving closer together in the years to come. The next overhaul of regulations is not due until 2026.
