Red Bull’s RB20: Evolving towards Mercedes-style sidepods

Red Bull is preparing to debut a new, more extreme Mercedes-style sidepod on their RB20 car for the upcoming F1 season. The team is expected to use this design for the hotter conditions of pre-season testing and opening rounds before transitioning to a sidepod layout more closely resembling Mercedes’ size-zero concept. The shift in design is driven by a desire for greater downforce and improved performance. Red Bull’s approach will also involve focusing on cooling and making internal component changes to stay within regulatory restrictions on external bodywork development. Team principal Christian Horner emphasized the team’s dedication to pushing the boundaries and evolving their car for the new season.
